Geek Bar has quickly become one of the biggest names in vaping. In spring 2024, Geek Bar Pulse was the third best-selling e-cigarette brand in US stores by dollar sales, according to CDC data. By 2025, 64.1% of US middle and high school students who vaped said they had used Geek Bar in the past 30 days, making it the most-used brand among them.

Geek Bar isn't just another disposable. The Pulse line has a full screen, two power modes, and a very long rated life. Those features change how the habit works, so they should change how you quit. Here's a plan that uses them.

What makes Geek Bar different

Here's what Geek Bar lists for its standard Pulse:

Feature What the manufacturer says Why it matters for quitting
Nicotine 5% High-strength nicotine salt; withdrawal can feel strong
Rated puffs Up to 15,000 (Regular) or 7,500 (Pulse mode) One device can last a long time, so there's no natural stopping point
Pulse mode 20W output, "dense vapor" More vapor per puff means more e-liquid, and nicotine, per puff
Full screen Shows battery and e-juice levels, with animations Can feed the habit, or become your tracking tool

The screen is designed to hold your attention

CDC calls vapes with digital screens and usage indicators "smart vapes" and says these features may make them even more appealing to youth. Geek Bar describes the Pulse's screen as showing "cosmic-style animations" while you vape and charge. That's fun, but it's also one more reason to pick it up.

The label may not match what's inside

A 2025 study from UC Davis tested five Geek Bar flavors advertised at 15,000 puffs and labeled 50 mg/mL nicotine. They measured between about 21 and 36 mg/mL, roughly half the label. The researchers noted that people tend to vape until they get the nicotine feeling they're used to, so a weaker-than-labeled device can just mean more puffs.

The takeaway: you can't judge your intake from the box. Judge it from your behavior.

Step 1: Turn the screen into your tracker

For one normal week, use the e-juice display as a log:

  1. Check the e-juice level each morning and write it down (or snap a photo).
  2. Note the date when you open each new device.
  3. At the end of the week, look at how fast the level drops on a typical day.

This tells you more than any label could. If the meter drops noticeably every day, that's an all-day habit, and your plan should include extra support. You can log each finished device in the free Escape the Vape app's pods-escaped counter to see it add up.

Step 2: Switch off Pulse mode now

While you prepare to quit, stay in Regular mode. Geek Bar rates Pulse mode for about half as many puffs from the same device and says it delivers denser vapor, so each puff likely pulls more e-liquid. Regular mode isn't "safe," but it removes the most intense hit while you get ready to stop. Don't go looking for a stronger device to "finish strong."

Step 3: Pick a quit date tied to an empty device

Choose a date within the next two weeks, and time it so your current Geek Bar runs out the day before. The screen helps here: when the e-juice meter is low, you'll know your quit day is close. Don't buy the next one.

This is the opposite of how most disposable habits work, where a fresh device is always waiting. You're planning to stop with an empty one in your hand.

Step 4: Get ready for withdrawal

Smokefree.gov says withdrawal symptoms are usually strongest in the first few days or weeks, then get weaker and less frequent. Expect:

  • Cravings, especially at your usual vape times
  • Irritability or restlessness
  • Trouble sleeping or focusing
  • Feeling hungrier

If your Step 1 log showed heavy daily use, talk to a pharmacist or doctor about nicotine replacement therapy. Patches, gum, and lozenges are FDA-approved and come in measured doses you can step down, which a Geek Bar can't offer. CDC notes that adults who smoke have the best chance of quitting when they use medication and counseling together.

Step 5: Replace the flavor and the fidget

Geek Bar flavors lean sweet, sour, and icy, and the device itself is something to look at and hold. Replace both:

  • Taste: sour candy is a bad idea for the first few weeks (too close to the real thing). Try strong mint gum, sparkling water, or crunchy snacks.
  • Hands: a fidget toy, a pen, or a stress ball for the moments you'd normally check the screen.
  • Phone: if you used to vape while scrolling, move the habit. Put your phone in another room for the first hour of the day.

More ideas in things to do instead of vaping.

Step 6: Clear backups and get support

Check your car, bag, jacket pockets, desk, and nightstand. Then line up help before your quit date:

  • 1-800-QUIT-NOW for free coaching in the US
  • Text QUIT to 47848 for SmokefreeTXT
  • A quit app like Escape the Vape, free on iOS and Android, with a streak tracker, money-saved counter, health recovery timeline, and a community of people quitting at the same time

In December 2024, FDA issued warning letters to 115 retailers for selling unauthorized disposables including Geek Bar Pulse, Geek Bar Skyview, and Geek Bar Platinum. In 2025, FDA warning letters cited unauthorized Geek Bar Pulse X products labeled at 50 mg/mL. FDA's import alert for e-cigarettes also says any unauthorized e-cigarette imported into the US may be detained without physical examination.

Enforcement priorities can shift, so check FDA's Searchable Tobacco Products Database for any product's current status. Either way, a product without FDA authorization hasn't been reviewed for what's actually inside it, which fits with the label gaps the UC Davis lab found.

You can outlast a 15,000-puff device

Geek Bar is built to last a long time and to keep you engaged. Your plan flips that: track it, turn down the intensity, stop when it's empty, and fill the gap with support. For more on handling the first rough days, see the vape withdrawal timeline. You've got this.
